Default Horse Caricature

I posted the first picture in the new member section. I thought it best to continue the thread in the project section.

As I indicated this is my first carving, I'm in the painting phase.

I'm working on the base and finished the sign and gate.

Great job on that horse. My only critical comment would be that you should also try and put some of "yourself" into the piece and not try and do an exact copy.

First carving? There is no way. You must have some kind of wood experience?

Thanks to all of you who provided feedback.

I agree with your comment Lynn, I just needed to get my feet wet without creating additional problems by straying too far from the barn. I needed the first one to be straight forward and use your pictures as a crutch to get me through the "how do I do that" moments.

I hope to expand my horizon on the next one.

I have a lot of woodworking experience, furniture and also making scale miniatures, but no carving. Check out my blog below for a few of my projects.

Very nice work!

I checked out your blog to a limited extent. Your miniatures are exquisite.
