Default Home Made Knife Sharpener

Here is a couple of pics of my version of Tonz knife sharpener. I used two reversable, high toruqe gear motors running at 37 & 1/2 RPM. Ordered a 1200 grit diamond disk, and cut up an old kitchen bread board for the frame. Still have to install a couple of handles and maybe paint it. Works lile a charm.I want to thank Tom Ellis for the idea cause I had no idea what to use the gear motors for.

Looks pretty neat, Dave. I love my Tomz Knife Massager, so if your's is anywhere as useful, you got a winner.

Very nice! Where do you find such motors? Also, where did you order your diamond disks?

Thanks for the comments. Terry & Jim Q., I ordered the dia. disk from wwwROCKLADY2.COM, no plans, just designed it to suit my needs. The elec motors are Dayton AC, high torque gear motors, Mod:6Z078. They turn at 35.7 rpm and were given to me by a company that went out of business.

Since I managed to post this in the wrong place, I would appreciate a monitor moving it to the proper spot under tools, technology & sharpening.
Thanks
Dave

If you had to buy them, they are expensive: Gearmotor, AC, 32 RPM - Gearmotors - Gearmotors - Power Transmission : Grainger Industrial Supply
