Default The Hole!

Since my wife is not a morning person I drive to town, for breakfast, at a local diner owned and operated by Greek brothers. Been doin this for 18 years. As in most local diners the conversations are varied and lively. A while back when a conversation got to some local crooked politcians, the Greek boys said "To the Hole". This went on for sometime until the Greek brothers explained that in their native county , "history" has it that in Sparta all enemies, bad people, and anyone who did not or could not contribute to society was thrown into the bottomless hole. Even as kids the brothers were threatened that if they did not behave it's off to the hole. Occasionally one can hear the greek brothers mutter 'To the Hole" when they encounter an unpleasant customer.

The boys also say that we in this county "missed the boat". We even have the Grand Canyon.

This carving of the "Hole" plus a bottle of Greek brandy is Demo's Christmas gift.

Guess who's gonna get a free coffee on Monday morning. Neat idea Tom and well done, I'm sure they got a kick out of that one.

Thanks Keoma, Eddy and Cliff! I was going to carve a pair of legs and feet sticking out of the hole, but left it simple as it is. Now the Greek boys can just point to the carving.....It's these simple and quick things that are fun to do and give. The carving isn't much but the meaning is. Thanks again.
And maybe a free cup of coffee!

Brilliant idea Tom! They'll love it. I am with Eddy - place it by the register and any annoying customer must head "to the hole" - with CASH!!! ;-)

Cheers!

That is really funny...well as funny as being thrown in a bottomless hole can be. I always wondered what that hole was for in the movie 300. Now I know. Thanks! I think they will get a kick out of it!
