I took a break from a while from carving, and also had to let this hobo aside for a while by lack of motivation... I was stucked.

I wasn't satisfied with how the eyes looked and the more I kept working on them, the worst they were becoming. I considered carving a new one, or just a new head, but wasn't ready to do it.

But this week, with a fresh mind, I found the solution... I drilled 2 holes, made 2 plugs from basswood and glued them in place of the eyes. I can now start again working on the eyes with fresh wood.

Here is the result.

Tomorrow, I take the excess off and will shape the eyes again.

Gilles

He already looks as he is wearing glasses, even binoculars...

Well not anymore because this morning, I shaped the wood plugs close to the surrounding surface.

The face must have a boring look, kind of cool look, and the eyes have to play a big role in that look. And glasses would distract from that.

Now, I'll have to go slow and reshape the eyes again.

Gilles

Gilles:
Stand in front of the mirror with a camera in hand. Get your own eyes to have the look you want, then bring the camera up to your chin and take a photo of yourself in the mirror...
