| | Hereward The Wake This character is based on an English hero of the time of the Norman invasion in 1066. Hereward The Wake fought the Norman invaders like the original Robin Hood, and was regarded as a true hero of the early English. A friend in England sent me a picture of him and I based the portrait on his likeness. Done in Butternut, it measures about 4" tall.

Being from Australia, have never used butternut. How does it carve and hold detail and what type of finish do you use on it.
