Thank's Bob and Lynn.. one never gets too old to learn...lol
Bob you are very encouraging to me.. Thanks so much for the compliment.. I was so afraid I had ruined it by putting the sawdust all over the base but with all the good advice ..maybe I can salvage it.. Sense I have gone the way of the sawdust, I am using Hugh's way this timne. I am so slow but after this one, I hope to do something nice and easy and fun to do... lol I am learning with each one I do.. with all this good help from the board and all these nice people... Thanks everyone.... Charlotte

Charlotte my dear, take your time. There is no hurry. Carving isn't a speed contest. I always considered the best part of carving as the journey, not the arrival. All the little successes along the way make up the big reward at the end. Short and easy projects are nice, but the reward is relative......short and easy. With a complex and difficult project that takes months...or in my case years, the final reward is "significant"!

As for your learning, Ma'm, you are in a advanced skill level already, your work is significant! Well done.

Bob

To Bob and Hi Ho my dear fiends.. Bob you are right ..It does mean so much to spend time creating something that makes you PROUD, as with those wonderful ships that you do.. I rest back and say.. wow .. How in the world did I do that?????? but if someone ask me how I carved this or that.. I would have to go duhhhhhhh... I haven't got a clue???? Maybe after I have carved a hundred more Santas I might remember just how I did it...lol Maybe I should just do a short squat fat little Santa for the fun of it .. My son has decided to carve an Igloo for me, with some little critters putting ice on it... He uses a dremel.. and I can carve a chubby little Santa to go with it.. Then it will be a Johnny and Charlotte carving.. and will be fun to do.. Maybe..... and Hi Ho how can you still put up with all my questions and still help and encourage me ..and still make me laugh. I know I have been a pest but because of your expertise... I have learned so much... Now I am in another delima.. I have three private messages from this board .. and my messages are full and they say I have to delete some and I don't know how, so Nancy in Ca.. and Brent... I will try some how to figure it out...Thanks so much,,, Charlotte
