| | Re: Help ! Sawdust and paint?? Better yet...just go to a Hobby center where they sell lots of model trains and look or ask for a book on how to do Model Railroad Scenery. In that book you will learn all you need to know about creating model habitat. Thats the way I picked it up! |

| | Re: Help ! Sawdust and paint?? CHarlotte-I have used Lynn's method when i did his camp cook and it provides a very realistic looking Grass. But I think that you have already completed your base with the sawdust. then I would go with Hugh"s approach using different shades of green and tan,and randomly stippleing the colors.
use wood-whittlers suggestion of making a couple of test boards and practice till you get the effect you want.

| | Re: Help ! Sawdust and paint?? Thanks Lynn, for all the instructions and I have already thanked Hugh.. Now here comes a dumb question.. What is Modge Podge ? sp... I live in a very small town and have to resort to ordering by e-mail for things that would be in a store like Michaels.. etc.. Is it a form of paste or glue..? That sounds like a good way to make an earthen floor for carvings.. I am looking for a forest floor for this one.. Would Michaels have it? About all we have here is the big city of Wal Mart and a Lowe's. Thanks for your help all and I really appreciate it..Charlotte |

| | Re: Help ! Sawdust and paint?? ModPodge is a staple in the craft dept. of Michael's or WalMart. You have to choose between gloss or matte. For "landscape" work I'd choose matte. |

| | Re: Help ! Sawdust and paint?? Charlotte.....I must compliment you on that piece you are working on, it is outstanding!!! I can't help you on the painting much, you have some great answers on that already, but I would be remiss if I didn't tell you what a wonderful job you are doing on that Santa. I am very impressed. Thank you for sharing that with us.

| | Re: Help ! Sawdust and paint?? ModPodge is one of life's staples around here. Mat finish is what you want. It is the same thing as Liquidtex Mat Medium but at about 1/10th the price. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
