Default Half Hull Model

I'm finished with my half hull carving except for the last touch, a brass plaque underneath the hull.

The hull underwater portion is Walnut, topside is Maple. Finished with matte polyurethane, 1000 grit between coats (yeah, I like smooth )

Background is stained Poplar boards doweled together, my intent was for it to look like a portion of a wooden hull.

Looks good to me , The combination looks like it worked well.

Is it a certain ship that your making the brass plate for a description?

It's one form of a Baltimore Clipper I believe Ash. The design was with some hull design software I have and just looked like a good one for the half hull and having the lines made it easier.

Beautiful job Bruce!!!! I love the mounting board, planking and rope edge!!! The Maple and Walnut is a great combination and both give such a great finish!

What are you going to carve next, have you thought about it?

Very well done.

Bob

Thanks Bob

Right now a rather mundane laminated pepper shaker (salt to follow) is being created.

Being an ex commercial diver I'm thinking of doing a Mark V Navy diving helmet in hardwood (not full size!). My idea is to do it also half model but with front quartering view. Hmmm, the breastplate would be a challenge from that view, just thought of that!
