Default Gryphon

It was great to get a shot of enthusiasm through the Fox Chapel weekend, and to meet people I only knew through the help they have generously shared on the message board. Well, here's what I'm happy to be working on. It is the Gryphon designed by Shawn Cipa. Hopefully, it will be finished sometime next week, and then I can begin painting.

I was planning to meet Shawn Cipa at the open house and sit through his classes but.... Too bad about his accident. I hope he's doing better. Your gryphon looks great. I can't get a feel for the scale, though. How big is it? Mike

It's probably about 10 inches tall..... my son says it's the size of a gallon milk jug......

I e-mailed Shawn and he is already carving, cast and all! Yeah, I was disappointed that he couldn't come, but I was really glad for all the people and for everything I learned.

Beautiful job.
Is the body separate from the base? or the same block? and is he laminated wood or all one piece?
I'm curious about the dimensions as well.
Basswood?
Very nice. I hope you will post more pictures as you finish it.
