| | Re: Grey Jay Wip I have a helper too. In fact two of them. Kaitlyn is 7 and carving soap for now, but wants to use the sharpe knives, power carver, band saw, and as she says " wack the gouges with funny hammer". I did let her drill all the pilot holes in the 2 bird houses we made. And she put in all the deck screws be hand. Brandon is 3, in to EVERTHING, and is the posterchild for lock your carving tools up. He likes to " just watch", very closely. Has tried to get his head between the gouge and mallet to get a better look.
The Jay looks great, and a cute helper always makes you look better. |

| | Re: Grey Jay Wip Now that quality help......carving time including the daughter or granddaughter! My granddaughter wants to learn to carve, "when she's bigger!" as she says, and I am looking forward to that day. In the mean time, she watches and does some sanding.
Great job on the Jay, tell your daughter for me to keep at it, she'll make a great carver in good time, better than Daddy!
