| | Re: greenwoman-wip and here she is :-) i hope you enjoy ...
she is lifesize, wood is 6,5cm deep in deepest place. ... and i want thank you all for encouraging and helpful words during the carving ...
and for ron : the carving is showing a lifesize face of a beautiful (i think) woman, having a small smile, and looking to her left as if she were thinking of something nice, or has just noticed something pleasant in this direction. she is surrounded by long slender leaves, arranged like as it were long soft flowing hair moving slightly in wind, curling around her face on bottom. other than on greenmen, there are no leaves in her face like for eyebrows or so, the leaves are only around her. on top of her head there are two bellshaped flowers, underneath her chin are three flowers, one bell shaped and two like daisies (?) well, these flowers are fantasy flowers... |

| | Re: greenwoman-wip Quite simply,,,,WONDERFUL!
I've seen so much change in your style and finish in such a short time. I don't think you can call yourself a beginner any longer. And this is what,,your 3rd or 4th face as well as a couple of other projects,in about 6 months? Excellent!
Obviously you are doing something right! You're not learning to carve,,you're learning to create. It's a world of difference and it shows.

| | Re: greenwoman-wip mark, yes, couple other projects... is the 7th serious meant face , i think the 5th you can call real face, made some previoulsy "for exercise" to learn proportions ... thanks a lot for your nice words... she was almost killing me, the eyes, oh i needed 3 days for them, since i am such a chicken to carve what i see, because i am in agony i might spoil the carving with the last cuts... the finish is same agony. she sits there on the bench, i have tried out a couple of times on left over chunks of wood what i want to do for the finish, but it is such a step, i need all effort to make me do it... learning to create, yes, i hope so... we will see. my head is full of ideas, i still feel so clumsy, time is so short ...
hi kathy, yes i read that. thanks....next willl be male though, hope you not disappointed ;-)
chuck, thank you too :-) ... yes photoshop is very good help in that. i learned (i think thor suggested it some time to me) to take fotos now and then, and look at them on monitor. this gives a totally new view of your carving, and to me, it helps a lot. the eye previsualization is just a neat thing, is it not ? imagine what michelangelo would have made out of that !!! (ha, i bet he not needed such crude helpers ! ) |

| | Re: greenwoman-wip Doris, I've read along, as I'm sure many others have, and watched as your piece has unfolded. Whether you think so or not, you are an inspiration to many to push ourselves beyond our comfort. Good things come from it. |
