Default Granny

Not having anything to do yesterday for the Tuesday afternoon carve-in down at the Community Center, I grabbed an old head that had been laying around gathering dust waiting till I finally got around to tossing it into the woodbox. While arguing politics, telling jokes and basically seeing who could lie to the point that even the teller could no longer believe what he was saying Granny materialized. Must have been my subconscience working as my own Grandmother always wore a hairnet and glasses although she was a little more fleshed out than this one. She gave some of the best hugs I've ever gotten.

A moment ago, on the "What to do with Scraps" thread, John ask me if it was worth the time carving scraps. Well, I think this will end up being a good example of why it's always worth it as long as you're carving something, anything. I don't know what Granny will be doing yet, maybe getting a Tattoo, maybe asking Grandpa if she should put her teeth back in before an afternoon cuddle......who knows? One thing I do know is that I'll bet ole' Granny will turn out to be a real classic caricature!!

HUM?? Yea our Granny's seemed to know everything. Make sure you carve a old cat following her around, all grannies had a old cat near by!

Hope you get time to work this granny carving up soon. Sounds neat to me.

Hey Lynn, I love the old dear, she looks to be about the same age as me, I guess that's the attraction, but you sure did her justice, great carving as is expected from you every time. Thanks.

Looks like fun Lynn. I know what you mean when when ya finish before you even know it.....that's the sign of experience and doing something you enjoy.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice Granny! How about having her in her floor-length gingham dress, standing there churning butter?

Nice one Lynn. A lot of possibiliies with this one. I like the hairnet and the Nose. The Glasses does add to her face. Great job.

Yes, Scraps are good to carve. I am using some to carve KU Jayhawks for several friends who are fans of the Rock Chock Jayhawks. Personally I am not but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

nice granny
Lynn,

i was going for another concept than pictured below, same granny though, but made her standing up , main thing i forgot her neck then carved off her ears, and lost the back of her bun,
its carved from scrap, so like you said its experience, but i think i can fix it with another head.. thanks for showing your granny, im again inspired

my granny didnt have a cat, she had a hen that laid eggs in her lap on the front porch while she churned the butter every day,,,
