Default Gothic chip carved cross

This is another cross I just finished up. I tried to give this one a gothic look but I'm not happy with the design. Head BangeWhat's funny is that I really thought that this was going to be a good looking design too. LOL!. What's your opinion?

Your carving is great. I do like the looks of the other one you posted better, but I should be so lucky to have one look as nice as this

Hmmmmm...I'm biase so I can't give you an honest opinion - I like all your crosses. It has a different look for sure but still very well done. I would take any of these crosses you have posted in a flash.
Can you tell me if you have a specific resource you refer too or are the designs coming out of your head.

Most of what I come up with comes from my head. I will take a design and modify it like Susan's pattern.

Rog,
Nice carving as always!
My eyes go right to the middle and I lose the cross visually. INHO if you put diamonds on each side of the center vertical line it will enhance the cross pattern and be more balanced.

As always I thought of that after it was complete but I think it also needs to be more bold like gothic is, maybe larger chips would have worked?

Rog,
yer on the right track. Maybe 4 big diamonds meeting in the middle to form a cross.
I have a picture in the gallery somewhere of a small cross with such a pattern.

The stain job is great. I love how the cuts show up so well against the wood. This pattern is not as eye catching as the other two. I think it is because the 3 loops on the sides are not even. The narrowing of the third loop makes it seem off balance somehow.

A well carved cross Ron, but I don't care much for the pattern. I can see what you mean about the diamonds, they seem to be too small or "too" .......... horizontal and verticle............ if that makes any sense. Not really sure what the problem is, but I like the other cross much more.
