Default Goody's new project

Yesterday I was able to stop by and see Goody, as I had to be in Balt. So he gave me a new project. He gave be a 8'ft long piece of butternut 2 inches square and told me to make a staff. After thinking about it I decided to make interchangeable tops for the staff, There will be 5 different tops.

After I finished the lilac staff, I am waiting for some information to start the ones on order so I took a bit of time to start on the butternut. The pic below shows the roughout point I am at and the staff is holding it .

Goody , about an hour in so far .

That is beautifully grained wood. I have several mature butternut trees close at hand but have never carved it... yet! And I agree, this is gonna be an interesting project.

Dave dont want you drooling but I have a ten foot long X two feet in diameter butternut tree waiting to go and get milled. If you were a bit closer I would drop you off some.
