Default Golfer

I've been working on this off and on for a while. I've still got to finish the face and add some more details.

Nice Job. When I first saw this carving at the bottom of your post I thought it was a chainsaw carving setting in a field of snow! Good thing I clicked on the picture.

I've found that taking pictures outside, they come out better than taking them in my shop. Thanks for the kind comments. I guess I'm ready to start on the facial features, but I'm not sure how much detail to try to put on it. I'm afraid I might ruin it by putting too much in such a small space...3/4"x 3/4".

Well, I reckon it's finished such as it is. I call it "Bunker Shot". Pine base with brass rod stock golf club. and whittled golfball from end of 1/4" dowel. There was a split in the back which I tried to fix with a "homemade wood filler", but it didn't work very good.

Mike I like it.

The crack doesn't hurt the carving. You put a lot of action into it .

After looking closer at the pictures, It's too shiny. I guess from the poly overcoat. My wife says it looks kind of like those sports statues outside of stadiums, sort of a bronze effect?

Thanks for the kind comments.
