Default Gave myself a hernia

I broke down the trees today to get a better angle at doing the finishing touches.JEEZ are these things heavy! They don't look too intimidating all separate,,but WOW,,this stuff gets heavy quickly.Cherry isn't like Basswood. By now I'm sure you recognize the center section sitting on the bench. I took an overall shot and then one left, center and right,,as well as one with the trunks standing against the garage door. These are 10 ft ceilings by the way just for reference.
I'll go over my chisels for a very fine edge,,and then finess each leaf,,and then a touch with 220.
Thought I'd never get here. One small tree left to do.

Well Bob,,you asked,,here they are.Should be gone by the end of next week. GOOD,,'cause the priest is calling for his Tryptich,,and the frame is due soon as well,,actually past due,,but I can only carve so fast.Isn't there anyone out there who wants to live the glamourous life as a woodcarver and help carve this stuff???? A life filled with serenity,,just you ,your chisels and the wood.Ahhhh ,,pure Bliss,,,,'cmon,,I'm selling this as hard as I can...

Mark, the butterflies are such a nice touch. Wonderful lines and that wood is just gorgeous. Sorry, it is worth the hernia...yours anyway. You have done a great job.

Thumbs up Re: Gave myself a hernia

Mark .. What can anyone say about work like this ? ... From start to finish you have taken us through it ... and the finish is unbelievable ..

Those leaves are a art in themselves ... What a beautiful piece of work ..

The natural color of the wood just accents the whole thing and I know that you put a part of yourself in everything you do ...

All I can say is WOW ! .. What a carving ...

That priest is going to be overjoyed with these result's .. If he's not .. I know probably a thousand other people that would love to own it ..

Absoluely beautiful Mark .. Congratulations on finishing this long project ..

Gene

Mark, You take a simple object ( Leaf) and make it into an object of ART. Very, Very, well done. Enjoyed the view.
Thanks Merle

Mark Y,
as per usual an unbelievable job you have done. I expect to see the leaves blowing in the wind. I would love to be your apprentice, but the wife would have a few things to say about it.

Gorgeous Mark!! I am sooooo bummed that they'll be gone before I get there on the 15th. Oh well. Looking forward to the visit - and - who knows, my wife may be in for a big surprise when I tell her - "I am giving up my 'high paying' job in the headache filled world of web/interactive Project Management to be an apprentice woodcarver in PA." What the heck - the commute would be about the same. Heh heh - the glitzy and glamourous world of woodcarving awaits!!!
