Default Gate Post Carving's in Progress

Hi gang,
Well you may as well say I am doing another tree carving. This customer wants two gate posts for his log home. They are being carved out of eastern white cedar and stand just over 7 feet tall, and about 18 inches in diameter. This is just the rough out stage of one of the gate posts. Both s will be woodspirits I know I am boring all I carve is tree spirits and woodspirits but that is all I am ever asked to carve. Seems people know me as the woodspirit carver and believe me I have a hard time keeping up with all my commissions.
Colin

I have the same thoughts sometimes Colin as over 90% of my carvings are woodspirits but I'm still sort of new at this. I am experimenting a bit with other carvings but viewers do like woodspirits. Don't knock the commissions if it keeps funding the pot for more tools. Your latest woodspirits certainly are large - your customers should be pleased with the results.

Suggestion my friend. Box them up and send them down this way to TOTO land. Great looking.
Hey, How about one with his eyes open and the other one eyes shut. Like the gate, either open or shut.

I know Keep my suggestion to myself.
Of course there have been several who has given me a suggestion or two but we cain't go in to that here fur shure.

I like it!

Boring ... no way, Good Sir! In fact all I can say is "I want one of those ... bad!" Someday I'm gonna have to get me a chain saw, then I would be really dangerous.

Colin those are impressive as usual. I always get enthused when seeing your woodspirits about getting a chainsaw and trying it out.
I still hope to, but I keep hurting my back and putting it off.

The chainsaw always looks so small when you're holding it! You must be a pretty big guy. When I hold them in the store, they are much bigger.
Wonderful job on the gate posts. Thanks for showing us, and quit telling us they are boring. Please notice how many folks rush to see your new posts!
