| | Re: flower panel - wip Thanks Doris! Looks wonderful to me. I think we are often our own harshest critic and I think this was a successful piece. The design may not quite be where you want it, but it certainly looks wonderful to the rest of us and you've learned a lot in the process. All in all - a HIGHLY successful venture if you ask me. Congratulations and thanks for sharing your project with us all.

It makes me want to use it as a model for a future project of my own.
Nice work.

| | Re: flower panel - wip is really good to hear you like it :-) yes, chuck, that might wel be true, that we are our own harshest critique, just because we always are aware when we get more distant from what we desired in first place. but i am happy about all i have learned with this piece :-) and carving such a big project was a new experience for me too :-) ... russ, yes, i would be happy to see what you would come up with :-) i think, this type of carving has a lot of possibilties, i definitely want do some of these again (but for this size or bigger i next time definitely need some sort of electric saw...)... and, dont forget to share :-) and, if you want use my design, or pieces of it, please feel free to do so... ah, jim, too kind, but very appreciated. glad you enjoyed the ride. i did too :-) |

| | Re: flower panel - wip Congratulations on a job well done. I found it very useful to watch you go through each step and the discussions on the problems and solutions will help me with my own carving.
Thank you. |

| | Re: flower panel - wip Now that you started it ,,that bookshelf just begs to be completed. Start from the bottom and make a design to go to the top. Don't confine it to the panels. If you think about it,,,you'll see what needs to be done. |

| | Re: flower panel - wip ron, i really love hearing from everyone whom my little wips helped in a way. thanks for letting me know :-)
mark, yes you are right. immediately after i installed the panel, i thought, "looks nice, but it is too short to look really good, it needs go over the whole length"... however, rather than making a larger one for this shelf, i would more like try doing a new shelf, (need one anyway) i mean, what i originally planned, build a shelf completely, to my liking and needs, and carve everything i want have on it...and, i would like try a different wood, and would like make the shelf different than that on the foto .... only, i have not a single woodworking machine, let alone the knowledge how to make a shelf that is strong enough to carry a full load of books. the shelf on the pic is rather untypical, it carries only 2 layers books, usually my shelfs are stuffed close with books, from top to bottom...... but maybe i should first make a second panel for that one, so that the begging not bugs me...lo... | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
