| | Flintlock pistol cane Inspired by a cane I saw here, I decieded to try my hand at something similar. I had recently seen a few beautiful canes with hexagon shaped shafts made by a gentleman reader from Ohio, who can no longer work wood, I incorporated that with the design. His wife had cleaned out his shop here in their summer home, and passed on his scrap wood to me for use or disposal. (as I use such small stuff for my ships, there isn't much disposal) and there was all kinds of beautiful hardwoods to choose from.
The main body is Mahogany, the pistol barrel is Black Walnut and the fittings are Ebony. Just have to final finish and put a rubber tip on and I can use it. The design is based on an photograph of an original Dutch Brass officers pistol, from the period of around 1780, I believe.
Hope it fits.

You've put your attention to detail and fine skills to work for sure.
That is amazing. I would think it was real. I'm glad it is a keeper for you to use yourself. Glad to see such an original piece.
