burrr,

great job,
but living in thr tropical climate of central louisiana 30 years, where you put on a coat in the summer to get a brew from the fridge,

i think i would have been tempted to have added a fish hanging inside a big ice cube on the end of the line,

great project, carving, paint...

Gergie .. Great job of flat plane .. your carving is clean and the knife cuts are visible to accent the carving .. Your base is very original and it is just a good looking carving .. The painting is colorful to the eye's .. Great job .. a 10.0

That is a real nice carving. My only question would be why the wooden colored ice? I think white would set the piece off the dark walnut really nice! Either way it's a real nice piece of work.

Maybe this is the inside of a fishing shack? I know my uncle had an ice fishing shack when I was a kid. It had a wooden floor with a removable 'plate' to chop through the ice and drop a line.

In any event, nice piece of work. Brings back a few chilly memories.

Gergie.... that flat-plane carving is just fascinating to me. Some day I'm going to get enough to nerve to actually try it instead of just admiring it.

Nice carving, Gergie. I agree with Lynn, though, on the base - I think a white painted (with a hint of blue) piece of "ice" would be better than wood colored. If you've already varnished it, just paint the ice and then re-varnish that part, if you decide to paint it white.
