Default flag walking stick

I've been caught up with "too many irons in the fire" syndrome, so this one has taken over a month to get this far. I'm using recycled cherry for this project, and the eagle head is the pattern from the last issue of WCI. I did reduce the size to what I think I want, and I'm still trying to decide whether or not to make a handle below the head. If I do, I thinking of putting a banner on it with the words "In God We Trust".

All comments welcome.

Don't worry about how long it takes, I have an Eagle head cane in the works also, but it has taken me 6 months to get it where it is at . Get tired of carving on it and put it aside and carve on something else. I do have the head cazrved and textured and a draped flag on a pole but undecided on what else to put on it.
Like the way you have the flag on yours.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody.
I've been thinking about doing this walking stick for about a year, and decided it wasn't going to carve itself. I ended up taking pictures of a flag from 4 different sides to get the folds and stripes to look right.
The WCI article was very timely for me, too. Just what I was looking for, because I hadn't done any animal carvings.
When my #1 G-daughter saw my walking stick, she asked "Can you pull it out, or is it carved?"

I finally got'er done.
I couldn't get a handle to work like I wanted, so I decided to leave it off.
This is my first bird carving, so I didn't think I did too bad.
Any advise?
Do I need to stay away from fowl carving?
