Charlotte If you want my opinion send him to me and I will inspect him and tell what I think. I must warn you though you may never see him again. I don't have a pond but I have a big box of misfit carvings that someday I will finish. I just can't imagine one of yours being like that. Do you need your eyes checked?? I would be glad to add him to my collection.
Ron

Unlike the rest, I have a spot in my cabinet for that beautifull Santa. One the better Santas Charlotte and expertly carved and painted. Love the scenes on Santa's coat. Just a beautifull piece.
Knew ya could do it.

Love the way you did the fur trim.

charlotte, you carved a very charming santa... i know your feeling you had with this carving, nothing seemed go right no matter how hard you tried... but, you should be very proud you nevertheless sticked to it, and finished him. that alone teached you a lot. and for that, i think you will experience after a while, you will love your santa too. like we all like him ... keep going, you did great in pushing your limits. you will see the benefit for your next carvings is tremendous...

I think now I will look at this Santa differenetly.. I will love him because of all the wonderful friemds that encouraged me and remember all the loving advice that was given me.. What more could a person ask for in carving a Santa?

Nancy, for you to say he is nice, is too much.. You carve and paint so exceptionaly that I can only dream of carving a Santa with his arms raised holding Snowflakes and Doves...and to paint like you..

Ron , yes I think I do need my eyes checked but because I have waited too long to do so.. Thanks for your encouragement as I also dream of carving such beautiful reliefs as you do.. to mention one .. that beautiful Mill scene.

Kenny you taught me to do the fir.. I was so glad for that..

Doris, I am glad to know that someone else has had the feeling like I did.. One time Curtis and I were at a meeting out of trown and we didn't know if we should go or try to stay, or leave or what to do, so we ask the Lord what to do and Curtis just let the Bible open to any page and pointed his finger to a verse and it said.." Finish what you have started." I guess from that time on, I tried to do that, so I plowed on and tried to finish him.. Thank's for your encouragement , it meant a lot to me ..

Iwant to tell everyone that I have enjoyed looking at everyones carvings and I see in everyone a part of their personality in the precious carvings that each one creates .. They are all darling and represent a lot of work and learning and that shows so much about each person's personality .
Thank's everyone for caring.. Charlotte

Charlotte;

I would give my best knives to be able to carve that Santa. I too have had carvings I have absolutely hated as I progressed with them. And low and behold I got a first for the dolphins I carved. We need to step back from our own work and get a second and sometimes a third opinion.

Your work is always amazing and this guy is no exception. He could have a place of honour on my mantel if he is still destined for that pond. But, I have the feeling that you are starting to love him like he should be.

Keep up the great and impressive work. We all love seeing it.
