Default five months but finally finished!

After all this time I finally finished this old ugly Santa.. I should have thrown it in the pond last year.. Does this happen to anyone.. When you start on something and things go wrong in the beginning and you try to straighten it out and things keep going wrong, does it ruin the carving for you or does it take the wind out of your sails to like what you are doing.. I disliked doing it the whole time and couldn't see any good in it..The heads too big.." I think I am going to have big headed Santa's from now on.." Boo Hoo... I knowthe hands are too small for the head as hands are the size of a face... Anyway he's up for bashing.. Ha.... Now I will see if I can remember how to put up this picture... This has made me not want to carve anymore... Charlotte

Wow Charlotte, I just don't know where to start! Bashing that is. You may think that Santa is the ugliest Santa you have ever carved. But if I had done that Santa it would have been one of the best ones (if not the best one) that I have ever done. And I'll just bet that I'm not the only member of this Board that feels the same. I think it's "neat". And if you must throw it into a pond, I have a pond that will accept it; with honor.

Thank's Tom , that helps me a little.. ! That feeling is just there and it AIN'T going away.. Ashby inspired me to put Curtis' face on there and that failed too..Ha... Hi Ho helped me with the hard wood by spraying alcohol on it. Kenny helped me by sending me a picture of one of his Santa carvings so I could make better fur but nothing could help that big head... Mrs. Gibbs, I think your wrong, that is a great Santa. We have have those kind of carvings, but I have found that when I have on that I almost hate. it turns out to be one of the best and you learn so much finishing o that kind. But I you don't like or want it, sen it to me! I love him.

Well Al, how many have you chunked in your pond? None I bet... Thanks everyone.. You do know how to make a defeated person feel better.. I'll try and accept him . I put him in the cabnet next to Curtis Santas.. Talk about having to hang your head down ... Charlotte

Don't you even think about putting up the carving knives! I would put up my santas besides yours and I'm afraid that my santa (Elvis) would have to leave the building! Your detail is great and I love the snowflakes.

I believe that I love your perseverance to not give up and finish the project as much as I like the santa. You go!

Dear Charlotte,
Your Santa is wonderful. I would volunteer my pond as well, but there are a few ponds ahead of mine. Your little squirrels are perfect, the snow flakes are so sweet, the colors are seasonally delicious, and his dear little expression looks as michevious as St. Nick should be.
Expecting every Santa to have proportioned hands is just asking too much, and I can't see anything about him outside of a carving to be very proud of.
