Default First Walking Stick

Hi all,

I've started my first walking walking stick which will be for my 8 year old niece as a Christman gift. I've started at the top with a Green Man and I'm going to add flowers spiraling down to the bottom through wood burning and painting. The stick is from my former home in BC - it's from a willow tree that during a spring storm threw a bunch of these branches all over my yard. This one is about 4 feet high.

Real Nice.
Seen some fantastic Eagle canes at the Tulsa Carving Show carved by EOWCA members, Eastern Oklahoma Wood Cravers Association. They are giving them away to wounded OK vets. Very thoughtfull . They may be giving them away to other vets in the US, Idon't know. The most recent Eagle Cane was given to a wounded Vetat his Boy Scout meeting.
Anyway, your niece will love it.

Are you going to stain it or leave it natural?

Your neice will love it. Most young people get a charge out of walking sticks with a face carved into it. Add a little story with the face, and it's sure to be a hit.

Thumbs up Re: First Walking Stick

Kenny the eowca.com has a pattern for their eagle cane. I carved one for myself but eagle head was a bit large for my grubby little paw. This is a good site and a good cause.

Good to see what you're doing with what the wind blew in! Great start and the flowers sound like a good adition. Make sure you show us the new step completed.
