| | Re: First "TRY" at a realistic bust Jonah, this is really very good for first trial. You managed to fix the eyes - not always easy, only, I would paint them in lighter colour. I know that the camera majority of the time does not really show the real colour, in this picture the eyes are a little bit dark - hope you do not mind my comment - I know that in reality they can be just perfect. Otherwise, just great for a first. Fred |

I think you've done a great job with your carving. I agree with your concern of the eyes. If you were to recarve the eyes I don't think you could a better job than you've done. My opinion is you've made the eyes stand out by making them much darker than they really need to be. Because you removed the pupil it made the eyes appear larger and therefore attract more attention than the rest of the carving in general. If you're not really happy with it I wonder if you might tone down the darkness off the eyes by adding some color to the "pupil" that would more or less match the the facial wood color?
I hope you don't mind my suggestion. Your "carving" I think looks great.
