Default First Try

I joined this forum several months back but because "Momma don't allow no carving in the house" I've had to wait for nice days to work outside on the deck. These are 3 that are a WIP. A BIG THANKS to Gene Messer for his videos. They have been a big inspiration. A picture is worth a thousand words But actually seeing it done "Is Priceless". Next thing is to tweek them up and give them a paint job. We'll see how that goes. Critiques are more than welcome.

Good Pictures are a God-Send. Yours are in focus and well lit.

Now the carvings: Great! I like the placement of the little guy in the middle. It makes a nice arrangement. All have neat facial features. Nice job. Keep posting those pictures of your work.

topknot

they look great and cannot wait to see them painted, the only thing i see that you could work on is the size of the nose make it a little wider at the nostrils think of it as a triangle in 2 direction looking straight at and looking at it from the feet. hope this helps.

Topknot, if this is your first try, I'd say you have a natural born talent. Dang, you keep it goin like that and the next thing you know "you'll be puttin tutorials on youtube as well", great carvings for sure. Gene will be very proud when he sees your post.
