| | First Kolrosed spoon done!!! Well after making my 2 new Kolrosing knives, I had to apply the technique to a project. Since this is my first try at this way of decorating a piece, I used/copied alot of Judy Ritgers pattern she used on a similar spoon. It is a valentines spoon carved from a piece of birch, I free handed the pattern then did the kolrosing. Once done, I rubbed very fine ground coffee into the incisions and layed on a coat of boiled linseed oil. This was not easy to do with no tutorial to follow, so I had to learn as I went. I hope that with practice my next project will be more intricate and free flowing, without the jagged edges. Hope you like.

In this case, the coffee ended up tinting my oil but gave a nice light color, so my mistake, worked out in my favour

I have made a few spoons over the years and I have to say you did a fine job on the bowl.
I have never tried it, but I wonder if an engraving pencil would work for putting in the lines of the pattern. |
