Default first carving from my own roughout

this is my first completed santa from my own roughout.he is basswood approx 5" tall and painted with acrylic paint and clear coated .i'll probably end up doing a wax on it and it'll take away that really glossy look and give it a warmer tone. due to my recent health issues and not sure i'll be able to go back to work, i'm looking at possibly getting into maybe instructing, i've done a few one on one lessons and in our carving club i did a one day face carving class and people seemed to enjoy it and even though it was awhile back i still have several that always comment on how much they learned and enjoyed it. so i did a santa roughout that could be changed up to maybe a wizard or wiseman. and hope to maybe start doing some lessons and instructing .

Daddio, looks like you could be a big help to a lot of carvers. Nice work.

thanks guys i was wanting something kinda versatile and i do a good many of these smaller santa's anyway. with the smaller size it's an easy hand held project and something hopefully that they could complete fairly quickly and have a nice lil carving. i appreciate the comments so much

Nice project...should be easy to instruct using your roughout, and you are right, it looks like it could be adapted for several different subjects.

thanks al don't know how it'll turn out, i know it's like they say just cause you can carve doesn't necessarily mean you can teach. but i'm passionate about carving and really enjoy interacting with people so we'll see what happens maybe.
