That might be your situation whitecree, but in my case if i cut a cedar that i could see from my window the poliece would sure show up before i got the log pruned...

i have tried to salvage some of the cedars that are broken down or uprooted from the march high winds we get here but there too knotty

mullburry is too hard, and the oaks dont break... so walmart provides a niche for me, i dont like to cut up a big piece of wood for a small carving 2x3x3/4"

Thomp... Good suggestion with the alcohol. I'll have to try it. I've been using Ajax dish soap but it doesn't always do the trick. Also, I'm going to have to look at those packages of wood at Wally Mart again. I was going on what the wood looked like, not a label because I didn't see any wood type listed on the label. I'd be interested to see if I can find one.

Last time i was in wally world looking for the craft basswood the little old stocker woman asked me if i was finding everything,
i told her she needed to move some of the good cloth bandaids from across the store, next to the sharps and craft supplies, to make it easier on us old farts with vein blocked legs, to get at them quicker. maybe they took my hint and moved the basswood closer to the pharmacy...

we got 2 stores in our area, and their both exactly oppisite mirror of the other store, i still get lost way in the back of them where them pretty girls congrigate,,
, hey its the only fun you can have at walmarts for free
besides momma knows where to find me when shes done shopping.

Some folks have to pay a cashier for their wood, some have to fight dragons, and some have to out-run a bear that lives nearby, but we all have to pay for our supplies one way or another!

Don't those darn fools at Walnut Hollow know that 90% of the folks that buy their overpriced wood are old farts like ourselves and it's hard enough finding the men's room, never mind some miniscule label on the back of the package? What's wrong with them anyway?
