Default First Carved Angel

Hello, It has been a bit since i have been on here, but i have been trying to keep busy carving (in between fishing). The North Texas Woodcarvers Guild in Dallas is the club i belong to and they asked us to start carving at least one Angel every month to give to Cancer patience. I have never carved and Angel before but I was all in. Below is my first Angel i have carved. It is carved using my palm tools and a knife. I did use a small sander to smooth out a view spots as well. I finished it with a natural stain. It got a little darker than i planned on, but I am pleased with my first attempt. I hope whoever gets it will enjoy it. This will be the first time giving a gift to someone outside the family. I was pretty nervous carving it.

Feedback always welcome

Looks very nice, TexasSteve. Someone is going to very please that you used your talent for them. Now that you have your first one done, get a cup of coffee and another piece of wood and show it who is boss. You are doing a good thing, and a great job at it.
Michael

I really like how theres just enough detail to give the piece identity and yet its still has simple lines and shape. You are also doing a very noble thing. keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing your next Angel

Depending on how tall it is, you could insert a small eye screw & make it into a hanging ornament. As you progress, you could add a little more detail - maybe have her holding something or possibly a 'little' more detail in the wings. I really like your face-less angel & keep up the good work. Angel's are like Santa's - they're addicting.

Hi Steve,
Great job on your first angel. I'm sure she will enlighten someone's day.
