Default First attempt with Pine Knot

I haven't posted a picture for a long time but that is a another story. I thought I would try and carve a Pine Knot. I have heard several people talk about them so I thought what the heck. I ordered a couple from Treeline and got them yesterday and here is what I have done so far. They had them with roughout or without but since I spouted out a challenge in another thread about carving without a pattern and blind folded that is how I carved this one. I didn't wear trhe blind fold. These things carve pretty hard your knives and gouges better be real sharp. But it is going pretty good so far I still have to carve the hair and touch up some on the face I think. let me know what you think I need to do I value your opinion or I wouldn't ask for it.
Ron

I hope you can see enough the pictures probably are not the best but the best this blind guy can do for now.

It looks like you are doing an excellent job Ron. I cannot believe you can do that with hand tools. Those knots are not easy to carve with power.

Hi Ron,

You're doing a nice job so far and with only hands tools, I think you're doing great.

Nice work Ron... I watched Gene Webb carve a pine knot in a video a number of years back but I've never heard of anyone working on one with hand tools! I'm impressed!

Thumbs up Re: First attempt with Pine Knot

Dang Ron Thumbs Up, looks like he is turning out great. Treeline sells knots you say I have been trying to find some around the property, but have none so far, I better head over and see treelines website.

Looks pretty good, Ron! If I might offer a suggestion, the facial proportions look good, but the eyes appear to bulge a little. It may be the photo, but the eyes look to me as if they'd look better a little less spherical - maybe a bit flatter in the vertical plane. I could be wrong, so let's let others confirm my comment or tell me I'm seeing incorrectly.
