| | Fireman WIP Here is a Peter Ortell knock off of his fireman. Head from neck up seperate Body was added. I already know some areas needing work, Side view shows a little longer neck but was trying for a upwards look. Chest is to flat and suspenders need to be lower on the back.
As always, Comments welcomed, good or Bad!

| | Re: Fireman WIP Ken - I just love his "gruff" look.
And...I find that looking up pose so difficult I've never done it myself. Oh, I TRIED it once, just once. LOL |

| | Re: Fireman WIP What a great expression...he looks like his not impressed about something. I see what you mean about the chest and back area. If the torso was turned around, you may have the proportions your looking for. Perhaps rounding the shoulders back might give his chest more depth. Great carving.

| | Re: Fireman WIP Thank you all. I appreciate the glad words for sure.
Looked fair good but the camera tells me there are some improvement still yet. Got a smaller blank cut out of the head and will carve another one. BETTER! |

| | Re: Fireman WIP kenny,
nothing wrong with the big head, but i think you may like it even better if you took some of the squareness from the chest, and moved the shoulders back a little.

| | Re: Fireman WIP Thanks Bart, Ya hit the nail on the head. Took a pencil and blacken front and back on both shoulders and I believe that will help.
Thanks for the suggestion on rounding the shoulders. But I am not covinced on the upward look yet. Maybe if I had not carved away all the wood I could have carved an upturn collar on him and been more satisfied with the upward tilted head. |

| | Re: Fireman WIP I'm not a caricaure carver so can't really give you a pat on the backfromthat perspective, but I like your fireman a lot. And that "look upward" seems like he's sizing up a problem area on the second floor, or maybe a flame breaking through a window or roof.

| | Re: Fireman WIP Kenny, great expression and I like the upward look and feel the neck is just right for that pose. You captured a true intense moment of reality on his face. Bill | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
