I can't take any credit for the composition or really any part of the design all that goes to Jeff Phares. Without the help of his book "Carving the human face" and the step-by-step instruction to carve the Native American face I would still be floundering. I also used some tips and techniques I learned from this forum, specifically Mark Gargac.

Hopefully when it comes time to design an original I can look back at this and recall some of the design techniques used in this piece though.

Thank you! to all who gave me advice and tips along the way on this, it was much appreciated!

Thanks for all the nice comments by everyone, also much appreciated.

You might not be able to take credit for the design but you sure can take it for the work. The best design in the world doesn't mean a thing unless someone with skilled hands,,discerning eyes and a lot of heart can pull it off

Truly excellent work. You've caught the man's character splendidly.

The design may not be yours, but the skill and sweat is. Now that you know how it is done, you're ready to try your hand at creating an original.

I repeat, excellent work!
