| | Re: Finished Cat Santa I am also impressed, great carving, I love the paint job, and the small details on the chair, the mouse etc. really make the carving. Excellent work!

| | Re: Finished Cat Santa Really nice carving, Charlotte. I like your painting also - the detail is amazing.
If you want a little constructive criticism, I'd suggest the mouse's ears are too large - perhaps half that size would look better. The mouse face is great, though.

Thor, he is ten and a half inches tall with the base. It was fun doing all the stiches.

| | Re: Finished Cat Santa Actually, I think the mouses ears are just about right, we had deer mice in colorado that had ears that big......guess it depends on the mice in your particular area. |

| | Re: Finished Cat Santa No offense Mrs. Gibbs, You are what we call a sand bagger. You say you can't carve but the evidence proves different.
That Is one fantastic Santa you have carved and the paint job, Most would give a million dollars to paint like that.
Nah, You be one fine carver and painter. This has been proven for sure.
Fantastic Santa! |

| | Re: Finished Cat Santa Hi Ho, I kept thinking... this here Mouse looks like a rabbit! Started with a one inch block and it was too big ..needed a giant cat! Then kept cutting it down and it got too small to hold.. even went to
Wal Mart's to the pet dept. to buy a mouse toy and still had a time with it, but finally managed to peg it into the base.
Kenny, I have had a pencil and brush in my hand all of my life. Now carving is a different story.. I can't believe I am carving at all..I am looking at the roughout and thinking.. Where in the world do I start.. It seems like I have trouble getting the nose large enough.. I guess I am afraid to cut back that far into the face. I even bought a Santa Face video. Thanks for the nice words a bout my painting... I am sitting here looking at Curtis's first Santa carving and he looks pure color book painted. Just flat paint and no shading at all , so it took years of painting to get to the little bit I do now...lol Charlotte |

| | Re: Finished Cat Santa Uh--Charlotte? You're kidding, right? You can't carve? You can't paint?
The work is fabulous--and I'm looking at photos. As is always said on this forum, pictures do no justice to actually seeing the carving! So, in that case, stop yer beefing, and continue on showing us all up! Look forward to the next one! |
