| | Re: Finished and started Vince, great looking carvings and super looking kids. I can imagine you will be doing some carving for them soon? They are a most appreciative client and not real picky on detail! I usually charge mine a hug for a bunny and two huggs for a bird!

| | Re: Finished and started Very nice vince.I have been spending a lot of time on the yellowstone here in Billings looking for wood.I thought about trying some of the dried out cottonwood along the bank.It seems so light but have not taken a chisel to any yet.Your bark was very well intact.Did you carve it semi green? |

| | Re: Finished and started Woodtrapper, I would suggest that if you are going to try the cottonwood around here that you might use something on the green side. The pieces that I have tried have been very dry. It is very soft and wants to crush so your tools need to be razer sharp at ALL times or it will chunk out on you. Have not tried any green yet but it has to be better than the dry.the Indian is a piece of very dry ash. It also wants very sharp tools also. Very hard. Vince (in Poplar Montana) |
