Default Finally finished, after 14 months.

Now I realize that everyone doesn't enjoy working on something that takes this long, but 14 months really isn't that long when you consider all of what goes into carving one of these. In this case, it was a re-construction of a very old ship model, that wasn't all that well constructed to begin with. Everything had to be carved new. The only original piece of wood left usable after disassembling and cleaning, turned out to be the basic hull, and even some of that had to be cut out and replaced.

I am happy with the results, but I will stick to creating my own ship models from now on, no more re-constructions, I prefer doing things exactly to scale, from an original draught of the vessel, not some old sailors idea of what his ship should look like.

The first picture is before I began and the next ones are the finished piece.

Bob

Wow!! That is a really nice job. Being an armchair sailor I would not have a hint on where to begin. I sure admire the work and patience that went into a project like that. Thanks for sharing

I love that project. It really looks that good.
I may have to get out my Cutty Sark and continue with it.
