Wink Finally done!

Hello,

Just like Hi_Ho_Sliver I too bought Lynn Diehl's book "Flat Plane Carving the Nativity" (good book). But unlike Hi_Ho_Sliver, who has done two sets already, I just finished my first set. Instead of making a manger I added a star which is held up by a dowel at an angle into a block of basswood. I hope the picture turns out. I plan on donating it to our 2006 Sacred Heart School Gala/Auction later this month. It's a fundraising event for our son's school. Take care.

Hey Chipper, you did a terrific job on the nativity! And I see you added a few things of your own and a few changes! lol good for you, I like all the changes/additions I see! It gave me an idea...the dowel, if it was going to both sides of the scene would look like a large ray of light, or if the dowel went to the manger, the light would be on the baby!

Terriffic nativity scene/carving. I agree with Dave, another dowell rod on the other side would make it look like it was shining down on the scene.
Flat plane carving eh?

I like it.

Beautiful work, a generous donation, and the star is my favorite part. That was a very original addition to the scene.
