Default Father Christmas...well sort of.

This 2ft high birch rendition of a Father Christmas (and somewhat angry) didn't go as planned. I always seem to start out my carvings with one thing in mind and it turns into something else. As well, I went too big with the face to the size of the log as I had intentions of adding hair. Oh well, another lesson learned. I will be trying another and hope to make some improvements. He's a little shiny from the tung oil and bright lights. If you look close enough I carved out "Father Christmas" under the holly.

I think he's great ... I like all your faces.

I printed the photos so I can get a good, LONG STUDIED look at that face.

Hehe had to say it before Hi-ho did !

Looks good to me , you go out stand in snow behind eight tiny reindeer for 24 hours and see what your face looks like ! ( wanta guess what make reindeer fly ? Jet propulsion might be a better term )

Well done Pat !

Hi Patrick, well he certainly does look stern, but it might be that is just your style of carving. I think it looks great and I like the name and decoration on the cap too.

At least no one will argue with him. Great face as usual. I like the details on his hat rim.
You're another carver that I wish I could peek over the shoulder of. Those eyes are perfect.

My next Father Christmas will hopefully be a little more cheery. I have started another one...and if all goes well, it will be a happy Father Christmas
Thanks for your comments everyone.

That's a great face Patrick... Nice detail.. The Old Word Santas had a very somber face.. Not the jolly od Saint Nick of today.. Charlotte
