I'm working on so many projects that I feel like I'm close to finishing a few. These are the three that I've been working on this week. The fairy house is kind of a mutation from the fairy doors that I have done so many of now. I did it with a chainsaw and plan on doing many more of them. The tree house is a piece I started awhile back and am bound and determined to have complete by a weekend Arts Tour coming up. I am honestly not crazy about it, but I need to finish it anyway. The heraldic sign is for a friend of mine with the usual symbolism of awards that I enjoy doing. She is a medieval re-enactor, and will hang the sign outside her tent when she goes to events. It will be painted. It is coming along pretty quickly at this stage, and I hope to finish it in about a month. It measures 10" X 28" X 1" in basswood. Christina |

Thanks Fred and Don. When I'm here by myself day after day it's nice to know someone sees what I do and reacts. A comment is like a pat on my back or an "atta-boy" for me. It is surprising how far that goes these days. I'm out working with my chainsaw today (for as long as my back can hold up) making a few more fairy houses for the garden. I think the color will make them more appealing, especially after the pine turns grey. Thanks again for looking, Christina |

I was wondering if you were still chainsawing! (I was looking through the early posts on that section and saw you carving a bear). I think the fairy houses are a pretty cool idea. Your stuff always looks good! Hang in there on the tree... it looks fine! Sometimes when I am not really enjoying working on a piece, I'll keep on going and then I'll do something or change something and then I'm back interested in it again.

Hi Mike, and thanks for the encouragement. yes, I'm still chainsaw carving. Getting more and more into it actually. I've just ordered another chainsaw with a dime tip. Stepping up my game. I have two demos to prepare for, and quite frankly, I need to practice and to get my body more prepared for the abuse. I'm too old for this ![]() The tree house carving was a quick design for a demo last fall that I didn't put much thought into. I put it away on a shelf and recently decided that it just needs to be finished. The details are going slowly, but soon, it will be completed. Just not one I'm real excited about. When it sells, it will pay for that new chainsaw though and that is motivation in itself. Christina |

I think they are all fantastic Christine. I think I saw the Heraldic sign in its initial stages in a previous posting, it is coming along nicely. I quite like the tree house concept and the execution, you shouldn't feel anything but pride in it. Joe.

Christina, your carvings are always cool and inspire me! I really like these! Plus woman our age with chain saws rocks! That's some thing I really want to try! All I've carved with one is fire wood!

Josef, thanks for your comments. I'll post it when it's done and see if it finishes up well. Nice words to read. Today, it helps a lot.....beautiful day, no one but me around to enjoy it. Ash, you just made my week. Thanks so much. Sharon, go for it. Chainsaw carving is dangerous, and I use all of the safety equipment, but it sure is an immediate satisfaction art form. SO much faster than using the hand tools. Christina |
