Default A fabled creature

This is made of the hard wood Paela, it is a exotic hardwood from Central America. So far it ...this wood is the hard wood to carve, it is a fine grain so it takes thin walls and ribbons really well, without breakage...it has an outstanding bright orange and light beige coloring. This is what you would consider netsuke....she is a small four inches.....cost me two bandages from my carving knives. It is finished in only beeswax, as I wanted to show the orange to everyone ....but picture does not show it well. I plan to show the wood more then the statue, so I decide to try stylized work. I was kicking and complaining the whole time about it...as it was a major, major learning lesson. And I wonder if I bit off more then I could chew.....I did not make a pattern of it, and that was a wrong choice on my part. But in end she looked like I wanted it to....first small project, first using this wood. Di

Gene, I had to go look up Ray Harryhausen...smile.. I do like his Kali... I have a heavy background in symbolism, mythology,...of graphic interpretation of science theories or fact, and combination psychology, plus my travels that equal to raiders of the lost ark... my art normally centers around all this insanity. smile Di

Everyone, your support means the world to me...keeps me truckin on. I start 7 to 10 pieces at a time and work on all them in different stages.... as normally I can only do one thing from 10 minutes to half hour then I have to switch cause of pain or dead hands. It has be a norm with me to seem to finish them all up at one time. Right now is draw up seven to ten more designs....and I stress at this time...great time although to share with all you because you all have such great ideas! Di
