| | Re: Enlow, Carving Western figures, sheriff I don't know, Thomp.....I kind of like it just the way it is....the nose looks fine to me and goes with the face the way you carved it....the hat and mustache are the big items here. I'd leave it the way it is. I'm with others also on the paint job....don't do too much with that...a wash, if anything. I love it just the way it is. Bonnie |

| | Re: Enlow, Carving Western figures, sheriff bonnie and sam, soon as i get cleaned up a little ill give it a wash coat of paint and the coat of blo and burnt umber, i like that look, will be first time ill be using that method,
but first ill have to scrub off the little finger prints, as my grand son is the family critic and hes got the grubbiest hands in the neighborhood,,
ig you missed the link in the first post theres more photos at this link,, Picasa Web Albums - thomp - Sheriff
sam,
i dont think knives have the magic in them, they seam to make easier because we feel it dose, but any good sharp knife should produce as good of a carving as any other.. |

| | Re: Enlow, Carving Western figures, sheriff Thomas! please tell me it ain't so! No magic in a carving knife. No blade that has been forged by lightening, or blessed in some way to instill it with the magic to produce a better carving. Then why in the crap do I keep lookin? an buyin?
As a maker of knives, you're just pullin my leg, ain't ya.

Tom H | Sorry to break it to ya Tom, I know its a terrible thing to learn the tooth fairy dont pay off when ya get old enough you could really use the extra bucks for new ones,
But, after making lots of knives, i cant tell how they will work until i use them some, and tune them up a little, ill agree there are some occasional knives that are real keepers, and become favorites fast, like your detailing razor knife, fly fishers first razor knife and jim oh's little knife, they were all outstanding for their purpose and hard to pass on to their owners when i completed them they worked so good., but you got to keep up with commitments...
theres no smoke and mirrors like Japanese swords.... just a good grinder and patience, touch and dip!
Merle, Sam & Tucker ,
thanks for the vote of confidence.. in your comment. |
