What a great tribute.....just a wonderful job on those faces. I like Lynn's suggestion for the base...it should really set them off, as they should be! Great job, Cottonwood. Bonnie

Wow! Most impressive indeed. I love Lynn's idea, it would really set your work off.

That is what I love about this site, no room to get cocky here. You will always see work that dwarfs what you personally can do! (at least for me :>) Keeps inspiring me to try harder.

Thanks for sharing.

Now those are really nice Millard. Like the sholdier and teacher the best. However all four are unique and well carved.
Those are pieces to be proud.

I have reworked the Emporia Sesquicentennial Spirits. Here are some pictures. I would be interested in everyone's opinion of the pieces incorporating a base as was suggested here. The message board is a great place for carvers to exchange ideas and I feel all of you have helped to make the Emporia Spirits better. Thanks.

Edit: Sorry....images were resized and made the base not visable. I believe the Rancher does show the base.

Some of the Sesquicentennial Spirits were left unpainted and an antiquing medium applied.

Looks great! Although I will admit that I liked the natural wood better. Still, the painting is excellent as is the presentation.
