Thank-you Al, Randy, Dave, Fred, Eric and Sharon for your kind words. I have bad weather again in miserable old Melbourne town roday, so it will have to wait a titch, before finishing. Joe.

Hi Joe, I totally understand that its not something you ever wanted to do but it is a great tribute to a friend. First time I've ever seen a hammer broken like that, and I've broken my share of tools. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing the finished piece. Dan |

Hi Dan, glad youcould find the time to stop by and and comment. As soon as this weather clears and work allows I will finish it. Forrest, thank you for the kind words. Yes, having a reason other than money to create something is very satisfying. I just wish I could steady my hand some when it comes to the engraving. That is something I find very difficult, but am determined to master eventually. Joe.

Finished the hanger today and am quite happy with the result, although the engraving...enough said. I used a couple of coats of danish oil, then hit it with a coat of beeswax which I buffed up to a nice shine. I think the timber might be Wallnut according to some of the pics I have seen on the chainsaw carving thread featuring some herons. Hard as all get out on the tools! Magnificent grain and colour though. Joe. Hanger 004.jpg
