Default Drizabone Hanger

A bit of a story with this project. Aubrey passed away recently after a long struggle with cancer. The doctors gave him six months, Aub took six years. He and his wife Marie used to travel to all parts of Australia on bike or 4wd. On part of their travels they came across railway spikes from the defunct Ghan railway line. His widow, Marie asked me if I could make a hanger out of the spikes as a memory to their travels and somewhere to place their Drizabone coats and hats. The timber I chose from my growing stockpile actually looks a little like the top half of AUS. The engraving is a little better on this one, but not ideal. I still need to practise more on that. Bloody hard on the hammer, those spikes.

Ya got that right Sappy. Lucky it was an El Cheapo hammer! Thanks for stopping by to comment.
Hal, thank-you also, I do hope she likes it. She gave me carte blanche on design, but I wanted to keep it as simple as possible. I will finish sanding the face and have yet to glue in the spikes. I will probably just finish it with danish oil and beeswax polish.

That is a nice tribute piece. Really a neat looking piece of wood, I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.
