Thank you very much Michelle. Joy, at first I didn't see the hands but as I was moving wood from around his head, they kinda just appeared. I appreciate your comments.

Hi Eddy and thanks for the comments. I love working with found wood and then finding something hiding inside of it waiting to be released. Still amazes me after the carving is finished and almost always say, "I did that?"

Thanks Gene, it was murder to carver and thats why it isn't more detailed. Had to resharpen the tools due to the sand imbedded in the wood, but it was a fun project.

Oh Yea,Dan I know what you mean with old drift wood, some are super hard and Ive also had some burned! Its hard work but really rewarding once you find that old man or a wood spirit in them! You finally found him and now that old chunk of wood that no one would ever want is alive again!! Thats whats so neat about old junky found wood is why I also carve it. Great job Dan of this really neat old drift wood carving! Forrest

Thanks for the nice comment Ron, as you say, the hardness shows up in the pic and the grain goes every which way. A friend found it while on vacation in upper Michigan.

Keoma, I hope you find a truck load of great drift wood, but remember that it will dull the heck out of your tools. Thanks for your wonderful comments.

Forrest old buddy, even though he was hard to carve, it was fun. As soon as I saw the piece of wood I saw him in there, and then all of a sudden his hands showed up. He's different than most of my carvings, but thats the fun part of it, difference. Thanks Forrest for your kind words.

Dan, he turned out great! The hands are neat. I agree with you guys, you just never know, what's inside a piece of old wood until you let it out. Then sometimes its just there and with a little help it gets to come out. Those little pockets or veins of sand can sure mess up the tools though.LOL Thanks for sharing!
