Dale,
They will be fantastic.

I can think of but one thing that in my opinion would be missing when I looked at it. But it would mean another carving. That would be a carving of the commandments in the center. For that is what they are all about. Or Perhaps just lettering with the first across the wall, in the middle of the carvings.

It was a long dry summer and I don't just mean the weather! I spent most of my time in Seattle (I live in Tacoma) and the commute is long so I did not spend a lot of time in the studio.
I have my Samson model nearly finished just need to work some detail into the columns and work over his right leg a little.
I am going to start carving the full size piece in October and hopefully get it finished in a month or so.
I will keep you posted on the progress in wood.

Looking at your update site and noticed the first model you worked on is still a model. Did you carve it or are you waiting to carve Samson first?

Sean

PS - AWESOME and cannot wait to see them in wood

The original plan was to do all of the models first and then start carving, but the pastor of the church and I decided that we should finish one completely and hang it. Then I would knock them off one at a time and hang the other six all at once.

Dale,

Impressive! The face the structure, the flow of the work. Outstanding!

Are you doing all the clay models before you start the wood carvings? Just wondering .

Thanks you for posting these. They teach me so much.

Wow I salute your ambitious undertaking and I will be following the progress of the pieces with great interest. What places did you get to see good carving in England ( where I am?) I haven't seen nearly a fraction of what there is here. Let me know if I can send you any pics or whatever from here. Do you know whereabouts in your building these will be shown? High up or low so people can walk right up to them? A frustrating thing about English churches is that a lot of the interior carving is way up high out of view! 'Specially those hammer boss angels!

WOW! Your work so far is wonderful. I so admire your talent. I have read this thread the other day actually and have been thinking about your request as to an idea to join all the carvings together. I think I have one for you. I will knock up a sketch and post it here for your consideration.
