Default Dragon Staff: Dragon Eyes

My first major carving project is a 5 ft tall Dragon staff in Ash. (I never start small, silly me )
My question is does anyone have any suggestions on how to carve Dragon eyes?

I have studiously researched Google images for "komodo dragons", reptiles, and dragons. I have several art books of paintings and drawings of dragons, these have been my best resource to date.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks to All in advance!

Hey Dave,

If you could post a picture of where you are in the carving or of the pattern that you are going to carve it will help everyone give ideas and suggestions.

In the mean time try these threads that have been posted here to the site. Each has a close up picture of their dragon cane and the eye's of their dragons.

I have roughed in the area for the eyes, but I'm not sure how to carve the rest. I hope these pictures will give you a better idea of what I'm struggling with. Thanks again.

Think "snake eyes" .... if you are looking for a nasty look, round eyes for a more docile or playful dragon. I have a few variations of eyes in the few dragons that I have carved, but Susan is the resident dragon expert!!!

I beleive that Bob is on the right tract. A snake's eye would work very well in the long and narrow eye socket that you have.
