| | Re: Dragon cane progress That is one beautiful cane. I love the detail in the scales. I agree that the head probably doesn't need scales, just the shape it is looks great.
I am sure Colin has enough canes on hand and that the dragon would love to live in Toronto. So, when it is finished you can send him here, I sure wouldn't mind.

I love that dragon head! Did you use pointillism for making the leathery look with your burner? I think those scales and the texturing are absolutely stunning! Now we both know I really like seeing burning and from watching your progress photo's (thanks for that by the way - loved it) I feel that the pyrography just totally finished it. Of course it would have looked without the burning but what it did was make it pure genius!
Thank you for sharing your progress and final result. Hmmmm - now I might have to actually carve something - see what you may have started? Sheesh.

| | Re: Dragon cane progress Thank you Robert, I really don't know at times if folks are interested, and I don't want to be a nuisance. I suppose I take things for granted, but hope I'm able to help others along the way.
Lindy ... the effect was by shading, like ironing the plates, not points. Had to experiment with heats, speeds and tips, but found the right combination eventually.
Thank you all for your kind remarks and encouragement. Coming from my peers (other carvers), it means a lot.
