That carving in progress sure don't look like the work of a "lonely beginner". Looks real good to me. Fish looks like it's about to leave the wood behind. You do what Mark suggests and it would for sure....super job..Tom H

Hi,
I just wanted to say that I love the way you have set the design out. What an incredible memento for someone to have to remind them of such an important time in their life.......I really like the effect of that dorsal fin, and that fish is so darned happy looking that I reckon he and I could be friends for life........Please be sure and post snaps of the completed box on here, and I'm sure we would all appreciate hearing the comments etc. from the recipients..
John

Thanks, guys, for your encouragement. You almost make me wonder if I was worrying too much. But, that is my nature. I tend to ponder about things too much and question myself on everything.

More than 100 people viewed this thread, and only a handful said something. Most of it is positive. I think I should just take your advice and dive in. If I mess it up at the end, as Susan once put it, "It's only a piece of wood!". I don't like being wasteful, but getting another piece of wood doesn't count as the end of the world, right? OK, enough of being my own cheer leader.

Once I get the piece of wood roughed out, I will post some pictures so you can be my witness of how well this project goes. Quite a new adventure for me. Thank you again for everything.

Before I go, I want to thank Rick for having taught me so much. Most of the techniques I use to do this project was learnt from doing the Santa Claus ornament beginner's project. I am sure I am just one of the thousands who got his help, but he has been one very important person for me. Thank you, Rick, again and again.
