| | Re: Double Portrait , Opinions/suggestions Ash, again, great job! Amazing what you are accomplishing.
The only detail that I would question is, if that is a child, he looks like he could beat the ever lovin out of Lincoln. His proportions look more like he's been body building with those sloping shoulders and his arms out like that and his broad chest and small waist. The face is looking really good.
You may just not be done with his body shape.....

I think it was more the angle, I took the pic and yep still rounding the body to match the head.
Thanks Kenny I am enjoying them so much, and to reproduce history figures just really lights a fire in me. I needed to do a lincoln before I started the large maple in Ind. and this photo really caught my eye.
Thor here is a better perspective of the carving and the orginial photo.

| | Re: Double Portrait , Opinions/suggestions I think that we often forget how loose fitting the clothing was during this era. A man's shirt that takes only 2 1/2 to 3 yards of fabric today took about 4 to 4 1/2 during the Civil War era. Tod's shirt would have been gathered on both of the front yoke and at the center of the sleeve. The back probably would have had a wide placket to allow extra room.
I remember buying a prairie dress pattern back in my younger years. I was shocked when I read the material requirements and that I need 9 yards of fabric to make a mid-calf length dress. I think every seam was gathered.
Coming great, Garry, keep up the good work.
